FAQ
What is the difference between discount rate and discount amount?
Discount rate is the percentage off the original price, while discount amount is the actual money saved. For example, a 30% discount on a $100 item means a $30 discount amount.
How do I calculate stacked discounts (e.g., sale + coupon)?
Multiply the first discounted price by the second discount. A 30% off + 10% coupon gives a total discount of 37% (0.7 x 0.9 = 0.63), not 40%. Simply adding the percentages would be incorrect.
Can it include sales tax (VAT)?
Currently, only simple discount calculations are supported. For items priced before tax, add the applicable tax rate to the final price separately.
